2012 Draft Watch – Round 3

Welcome to another edition of our weekly 2012 NBA Draft watch.

As the draft nears the anticipation is bubbling in what is looking to be one of the best draft classes in years.

We have covered 3 future prospects each week, and here are our 3 for this week.

First up -

Jared Sullinger – Power Forward

This physical PF currently playing ball out of Ohio State has been heaping praise for sometime, Bill Simmon’s of the B.S Report discussed him this week in conversation with Steve Kerr and is quite the fan. Sullinger is expected to be picked within the top 10.

Strengths: Very physical with his 286 pound frame, Skillful, Solid rebounder, and an experienced winner (leading his Columbus Northland squad to an Ohio Divison 1 state championship and his All-Ohio Red AAU squad to three consecutive National Championships).

Weaknesses: Needs to improve his mid-range jumper, has tendency to have his shot blocked and needs to improve his conditioning.

Kendall Marshall – Point Guard

This hotly tipped Point Guard currently playing ball at North Carolina is regarded as one of the best PG’s in the draft. It is expected Marshall will be picked in the top 20.

Strengths: A ‘natural’ floor leader who understands and reads the game with a great flow. Excellent basketball IQ. Has excellent handles, and rewards teammates when they run court. A player who has the ability to make fellow teammates better.

Weaknesses: Not much of a scorer, doesn’t get to the free throw line much, needs to improve his explosiveness and jumpshot.

Damian Lillard – Point Guard

This highly offensive point guard currently playing ball in Weber St. has been talked highly of for sometime now, he is expected to be picked just outside the top 10.

Strengths: One of the most prolific scorers in the nation, excellent shooter – comfortable at mid-range or from behind the arc. Good ball handler who passes the ball well and has a great ability for creating for teammates. Very competitive and a leader.

Weaknesses: Is definitely a shoot first ‘point guard’. Takes some questionable shots, and missed a whole year before junior year with injury concerns.

That’s it for Draft Watch for another week, be sure to come back next week for 3 more potential NBA-Stars.
