NBA: Preseason-Chicago Bulls at Milwaukee Bucks

Jabari Parker Torn ACL; Will Miss Remainder Of Season

Milwaukee Bucks Rookie Jabari Parker has informed teammates of a torn ACL in his left knee sustained during an awkward drive in the paint against the Suns yesterday, per Y! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.

Parker, the #2 overall pick in this year’s draft, has been averaging 12.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, and is also second in field goal percentage (.490), helping the Bucks clamber back towards playoffs relevancy.

The young forward will now miss the rest of the 2014/15 NBA season. We wish him a speedy and healthy recovery.

Monta Ellis Agrees To 3-Year Deal With Mavericks

Free agent shooting guard Monta Ellis has finally found a new home, after agreeing to a 3-year, $28 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks. Ellis, who had been gauging interest from various teams since opting out of his deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, finally settled on a deal which will see him relocate for the second time in three years, this time to the great state of Texas.

The 27-year old’s numbers took a small hit in Milwaukee, scoring an average of 17 and 19 points per game respectively in his two years with the Bucks, in comparison to a 22 point average across 7 seasons with the Golden State Warriors, bringing his career average down to 19.4 points per game. He shot 40.1% from the floor in 2012/13, and his shooting from beyond the arc fell to 28.1%.

Despite this slight dip in offensive numbers, and his struggles on defense this past season, the interest in Ellis has remained high. It’s no secret that he is a dominant offensive player, will be hugely valuable on the scoring end for the Mavericks, and should work well in the pick and roll with Dirk Nowitzki and fellow new recruit Jose Calderon to create scoring opportunities for the new look Mavericks.

The trade that wasn’t.

So the trade deadline pretty much passed without fuss.

There wasn’t the last minute superstar deal to send Twitter and the Net into a frenzy, which would have been great for us!

But reports have emerged over the last couple of days that a superstar trade ALMOST happened and if it wasn’t for some last minute nerves, well, we would have had that online frenzy and Twitter would have most likely exploded.

ESPN.com’s Chad Ford has reported that the Atlanta Hawks were only moments away from sending All Star Power Forward Josh Smith to the Milwaukee Bucks on deadline day. In return for J-Smoove, the Bucks would have sent the expiring contracts of Luc Mbah a Moute, Ekpe Udoh and Beno Urdih, plus a protected future first round draft pick to Atlanta.
